What to do in an emergency?

Thankfully, due to how we manage our classes, Shaolin Kickboxing is one of the safest sports around. However with all intense physical activity and particularly when free sparring is involved, keeping things safe must be an ongoing priority.

As part of our essential responsibility to keep our members safe and to understand what to do in case of accidents and emergencies we have ensured that all our instructors and junior instructors are qualified first aiders. Therefore as new instructors come up the ranks and in order to keep the learning current and front of mind we run periodic refresher courses. To this end, we invited John Sales, the Red Cross First Aid Instructor, to run a course specifically for us last Sunday 25th May at the Aldenham club.

It was attended by Club Committee members:

Kingsley Morgan - Chief Instructor

Gerry Abram - Deputy Chief Instructor, and

Renee Yarshon - Fundraising Officer

And junior instructors:

Su-Mei Savage

Richard Morgan

Nikolay Ulmasov and

Juraj Kovac

All attendees passed an assessment and will all be awarded with a certificate to show that they are qualified first aiders.

Thanks to those who made it on the day; it was an early start, but everyone worked hard and had fun in the process.

Shaolin Kickboxing is supported by St Albans City and District Council and Hertsmere Borough Council.
