Report from Ky's fight at Shock n' Awe

Shaolin Light Heavyweight Ky Godfrey competed in the Shock n' Awe promotion in Portsmouth on 2nd May.

Despite this being Ky's first competitive fight he
stopped his opponent in round 2 after Matt's corner threw in the towel.

Ky started so furiously that he threw out his shoulder in in first minute of Round 1, but luckily this popped quickly back into place. Ky then set about  demolishing Matt Gordon with a series of devastating turning kicks to the midsection, each of which left a mark, and heavy punches to the head.

Matt sunk under the pounding at the end of the first round but was saved by the bell. However, Round 2 started as the first had ended with Ky sustaining his relentless attack. This resulted in Matt twice sinking to the ground and having to take the referee's count. At that point his corner could see that he was beaten both physically and mentally and they threw in the towel.

Job done, Ky wanted just to walk out of the octagon and he had to be held back by his corner team to receive his trophy.

A young fighter with immense heart and determination with lots further to go!

Here he is, shortly after his win, with his trophy accompanied by other Shaolin champions Lazzer-Dee and Chris...
